The first half of cottage real estate season is now over, many recreational and waterfront properties sold in Muskoka. This is an unprecedented spring/early summer with virtually all of the lower-priced cottages selling quickly, many with multiple offers, over-list price. Even 'tear-down' cottages and mediocre lots/locations have sold quickly in the $450K-650K price range.
Summer camps are closed, daycares and schools in doubt for September, and people who were thinking about buying on the water, or moving out of the city have been buying up property. I anticipate another group of cottage listings to hit the market in late August, thru September, and more opportunities for Buyers. Prices will not likely come down, but hopefully there will be more choices for the patient buyer.
